Muhammad Firdaus suffering from a heart condition,  requires implantation of a cardiac monitor, help raises RM35,000 medical expenses

21-year-old Muhammad Firdaus Bin Bili, who has congenital heart disease, has been experiencing frequent fainting spells since this year. In order to identify the cause of his episodes, doctors at the Institut Jantung Negara have recommended a “Cardiac Event Recorder Implantation Procedure” to accurately diagnose the condition before prescribing appropriate treatment.
Muhammad Firdaus Bin Bili comes from a single-parent family and lost his father at a young age. He, along with his sister and mother, has been staying with his grandmother. His mother is a full-time homemaker, and the amount of RM35000.00 is a significant and unattainable sum for the entire family in the short term.
Muhammad Firdaus has been diagnosed with congenital heart diseases since childhood, including dextrocardia, congenital corrected transposition of the great arteries, ventricular septal defect, and pulmonary valve stenosis. He underwent arterial duct closure and left shunt surgery in 2003, as well as corrective surgery for transposition of the great arteries in 2006.
It was initially believed that his health would improve as he grew older. However, starting this year, Muhammad Firdaus has been experiencing frequent fainting spells while working at McDonald’s. To determine the cause of his fainting episodes, doctors recommended implanting a cardiac monitor to record the condition of his heart, in order to formulate the next steps in his treatment.
During a CCEP assessment, he mentioned that he had originally been studying baking courses but had to drop out of school two semesters early due to his health issues. Prior to the onset of his illness, he was also working part-time at McDonald’s. This year, he fainted twice while working, and he was informed that his heart might be experiencing issues again. To better focus on his recovery, doctors advised him to temporarily stop all physically demanding work.”
“The doctor said that at present, they cannot determine whether my heart is beating too fast or too slowly, leading to my fainting episodes. Therefore, the best way to understand the cause of my condition is to implant this device. However, my family’s financial situation cannot afford this cost. Fortunately, the doctor helped me find the CCEP Foundation and raised funds for me through them.”
He revealed that he understands his family’s economic situation, and compared to other young people, he only wishes for good health and a job, which is already the greatest satisfaction for him.
“As long as I can work, I can strive to achieve my other wishes through my own efforts. But now, the doctor has ordered that I cannot do physically demanding work in the future, so it is unlikely that I will be able to pursue the baking studies I had before. In the future, I can only engage in office work or easier jobs.”
CCEP Foundation CEO Yee Poo Yoon pointed out that due to congenital heart problems, Muhammad Firdaus Bin Bili needs to undergo annual check-ups. During this year’s annual check-up, doctors found issues with his heart, and Muhammad Firdaus has experienced sudden fainting episodes at least twice this year.
“Since they live in East Malaysia, they have to buy plane tickets every time they visit the doctor. Installing the cardiac monitor will also reduce the number of follow-up visits, making it more convenient for him and his mother.”
