A 1-year and 3-month-old baby with a hole in the heart urgently needs 45,000 ringgit for life-saving surgery! Sofea, a 1-year and 3-month-old baby from Kota Tinggi, Johor, was diagnosed with congenital ventricular septal defect (VSD), also known as a hole in the heart, at birth. Sofea’s mother, Norfarah (25, homemaker), stated that the doctor initially said that since the baby was still very young, the hole in the heart might close on its own as she grew, and thus suggested monitoring the situation for a period before making any decisions
Now that the baby is over one year old, the hole in his heart has not closed. Every time he gets a minor illness like a fever or a cough, it can cause discomfort in his heart, and he may even need to be hospitalized or require an oxygen tube. She said that the doctor has recommended early surgery for the baby so that he can grow up like a normal child; otherwise, he will need to take medication for his entire life. She pointed out that Sofea is the first child for her and her husband. The family relies solely on her husband’s meager monthly income of RM 3,000 as a lorry driver. Because the child needs special care, she cannot go out to work. ‘Before marriage, I was a clothing sales assistant and didn’t earn much. Now, after deducting RM400 for rent and RM 400 for car loan from my husband’s income, and considering the living expenses, we have almost no savings each month.’ Watching Sofea grow day by day, start learning to talk, and increasingly enjoy playing with others, the couple is more worried that his heart condition will affect his future life and studies
CCEP Foundation’s CEO, Yee Poo Yoon, stated that this young couple is just in their early twenties and haven’t been working in society for long. Their income is low, and they don’t have much savings or provident fund. Even if they break their piggy bank, they still can’t raise RM 45,000 . Therefore, the foundation decided to provide assistance to Sofea after reviewing their case. “They were originally treated at a government hospital, but since the hospital didn’t offer surgery for heart defects, they were referred to the National Heart Institute.” The National Heart Institute has scheduled Sofea’s surgery for June 1st, so we need to raise the surgery funds for the child as soon as possible.
The CCEP Foundation hopes to gather the power of the masses to quickly raise enough funds for Sofea’s surgery, allowing him to undergo the procedure as scheduled.

1岁3个月患有心脏有孔宝宝，急等着4万5000令吉手术费救命！
来自柔佛哥打丁宜的1岁3个月的宝宝苏菲尔，在出生时被证实患有先天性室间隔缺损(ventricular septal defect, VSD)也称心脏有孔。
苏菲尔母亲诺法拉（25岁，家庭祝福）表示，当时医生说，基于宝宝还很小，有可能在成长后心脏的洞孔会自动封闭，因此建议观察一段时日再做定夺。
“现在宝宝已经1岁多了，他心脏洞孔并没有闭合，而且每每发烧咳嗽等小病，都可能引发他心脏的不适，甚至需要入院观察或佩戴氧气管。”
她说，为此医生建议他们及早给宝宝进行手术，这么一来宝宝就可以像正常人一样成长，否则则需一辈子服用药物。
她指出，苏菲尔是她和丈夫的第一个孩子，一家都只靠担任罗里司机丈夫每月3000令吉的微薄收入支撑，基于孩子需要特殊照顾她页没办法外出工作。
“婚前我是一名服装售货员，赚的工钱不多，如今丈夫的收入扣除400令吉的房租和400令吉的汽车贷款，加上生活费每月几乎没有存款。”
看着苏菲尔一天天长大，开始学习讲话也越来越喜欢找人一起玩，夫妻俩更是担心心脏的问题，会影响其未来的生活和学习。

CCEP扶贫基金会首席执行长余宝枟表示，这对年轻夫妻才20出头，出来社会工作也没有多少年，两人的收入也不高，储蓄和公积金也没有多少钱，就算打破扑满也筹不到4万5000令吉；因此基金会在审核后决定给苏菲尔提供援助。
“他们原本是在政府医院治疗的，但因医院那里没有提供心脏有孔手术，因此才被转介到国家心脏中心。”
目前国家心脏中心已经为苏菲尔安排6月1日进行手术，所以我们这里也得尽快给孩子筹募手术费。
CCEP扶贫基金会希望集合广大群众的力量，希望可以尽快苏菲尔筹足手术费，好让他如期进行手术。
